It's 2020!
I must be dreaming when I thought I've uploaded my first post for the year (2020).
It feels as though I cannot separate reality and dream anymore.
I really need to have a proper sleep, please let me sleep peacefully.
Since 2020 is here and we are into the next season, I can safely share with you my favourite dramas of 2019.
2019 was a tiring year for me as I keep losing motivation to do the things I love doing.
Forcing myself to finish a K-drama was a torture. Despite knowing it was a torturous thing to do, I still finished few K-dramas which are not worth watching. LOL.
Maybe this is a wake up call for me on why I always feel time is never fair in my life. Cause I am good at wasting my time.
Important note to self in 2020: Stop wasting time over K-dramas I need to drop.
Putting aside all the rants and nonsensical ways of not having enough time or wasting my time, I managed to watch over 15 dramas last year.
Looking back at those dramas, I swear my time was not spent wisely.
Please note that I am not going to put synopsis on the dramas mentioned because you can just google by yourself for them. These are all my opinions after finish watching.
Let's start with disappointing dramas of 2019,
Melting me softly
I really want to like this drama because Mr Ji was in. However, my oh my, this drama was the worst in terms of plot, directing and script. If you want to watch this because of Mr Ji, I suggest you spend the time (re)watching Healer than this. HAHA. Yes, this drama is that bad.
I wanna hear your song
I thought this drama will turn out alright because there was a mixture of mystery, thriller and music genre. In the end, it was messy. I cannot fathom how I finished watching this drama because nothing was interesting about it. I lied when I said this drama was interesting because I did not want to admit I was wasting time on this. HAHAHAHA.
Abyss
This fantasy drama has so much potential but the directing and plot were just flat. When I thought something interesting will happen, my reaction turned out to be: Oh.. Ok.. So... Alright.. Erm.. I see..
However, the couple in this drama is so endearing and adorable. Park Bo Young is seriously good at acting!
Unexpected Dramas of 2019: These are the dramas I've watched with no/ low expectations and it turns out to be fun. Fun does not mean it is the best.
He is Psychometric
I went into this drama thinking I will drop it after 2 episodes. However, I was hooked. The acting was not the best, however the characters have enough development for me to continue. The mystery part was not so shocking to me as I read a lot of mystery and I can already predict the outcome. However, this drama has some good learning points that sets a reminder to myself to keep cherishing myself. Thus, I finished this drama with a good note!
Angel's last mission: Love
I shall declare that I am not the biggest fan of Romance Drama.
Shin Hye Sun was in this drama, I watched it and I like it. This drama has some humorous scenes that I can replay them just to get a good laugh. I wish the drama focuses on some character developments on more characters, apart from the Female lead then maybe this drama would have been on my favourite list. (Just kidding, it won't because my favourites are seriously the best.) I laughed and cried watching this drama and I know it has to be mentioned, thus, it landed on this list. HAHA.
At Eighteen
This drama was the most unexpected and I would really recommend this drama to the people who want a K-School genre. I thought I would not invest my time and be so committed to a K-School drama in my current age and all K-school drama just sucks (minus School 2013). Oh, I guessed I have spoken too soon because this drama came out and I was absolutely WRONG! This high school drama was well-portrayed and to the point! It is deserving all the love from me. The problems faced by these students and the ways each student handled them were nicely conveyed to me as a viewer. I felt so much emotions and feels watching this drama. I was so proud to see the growth in our main characters from the hurt and care they received from the people around them. I was so invested in this drama that I was actually looking forward to every Monday.
Hotel Del Luna
Hong's Sisters drama is a hit or miss. This is certainly not to be missed. I seriously thought I would probably let go of this drama by the 4th episode but the plot was interesting enough for me to continue. I wanted to know more and could not let go of this drama till it was finally the end. Before I forget, this drama has the best OSTs. Each and every OST of this drama just hits the right spot and moment making the drama more enticing.
Tale of Nokdu
Jang Dong Yoon has been one of the actors I feel that has great potentials to grow into a better actor. Hence, I watched this drama wishing he can be known for his acting skill and I am glad to see him doing well from the drama. I also did not expect the two leads to have such great chemistry. They are so adorable! Simply put, I unexpectedly enjoyed this drama because it was funny and cute.
Finally, you have reached the section for the best dramas of 2019! Congrats, it will be over soon. I promise!
Search: WWW
This drama is one of my favourites because the strengths of women are evident throughout the whole drama. I love how sassy and smart each career-driven woman was portrayed. The relationship between these threes was complicated and to die for. I absolutely love the fact that this drama does not lose its main purpose in empowering woman (showing how awesome woman is). I love watching this drama and I fall in love with Lee Da Hee because she is the best!
The Fiery Priest
Oh my god, this drama is so funnily ridiculous and touching that I love it to the core of my spine. Kim Nam Gil's acting shines the brightest in this drama and I was so happy to see him winning the Daesang. He truly deserves it because I felt like he is a Fiery Priest by nature. LOL. The acting, script, plot and directing are fantastic that an hour does not seem enough. I wanted more! It is cliche towards the end because the good side won but who cares, it was all worth it because the good side has gone through a lot and we need an ending right? Despite the cliche, I enjoyed the characters in this drama, they make the drama lively and the humor in this drama was on point. I really LOL-ed.
When the Camellia Blooms
I watched this drama for Gong Hyo Jin and let me tell you, she never disappoints. This drama has many meaningful lessons when it comes to family, love and self-confident. I cried while watching because it was so touching and painfully true to life. This drama has deep meanings and different people perceive different things while watching this drama. Everyone in this drama acted so well that it feels as though this town with all these people truly existed. Also, Yong Shik is the best male character of 2019. I want a Yong Shik in my life who constantly believes in me and able to bring the best out of me.
