Unexpected books that are good and surprisingly bad.

I am not good with words but let's give it shot yeah?

Today's post will be books I've read for the past three years that have deeply impaired in my heart for both good and bad reasons. LOL.

Books that make me go HEOL~ These books are so so so good. (OKAY) Maybe the books aren't that good (SOME are really good!) but they have left me deep impressions because I didn't expect to fall in love with it but I ended up falling and won't shut up about. Some are not 5 stars but I can't forget the great time I had while reading them. (It totally explains why it is unexpectedly good right?)

  1. Love & Gelato BY Jenna Evans

This book is one of my most favourite contemporary romance books. While reading this, I want to go visit Italy so badly. I thought I won't be so invested in the characters but but but. They are just so likeable. I won't mind buying this book just to reread about how beautiful Italy is and the cute relationships Lina forged with people she met.

  2. A list of Cages by Robin Roe

This book screwed me up so badly. I cried so much. I knew that I was going to be so wounded reading this but I didn't know that I will be THAT wounded! I adore Adam and Julian so much. While reading, I wanted to be part of the book and protect Julian so badly. The friendship Julian builds due to spending time with Adam was so beautifully written that I hope both boys stay together forever. I read this book twice and twice it broke my soul in the most terrible and cruel way.

  3. To All The Boy I've Loved Before (ONLY the first book) by Jenny Han

As someone who frequently watches korean dramas, this book is so KOREAN with the genre of first love and all the other cliches in a korean drama. This book was so hilarious and made me rolled my eyes so many times (NOT the HATEFUL kind!). I truly enjoyed reading this book and how come there isn't any PETER KAVINSKY in my life? HAHAHA. The plot is crazily obvious but I was still drawn to it. I bought the first book because I know I will probably pick it up again to reread whenever I want to have a great LOL and eye-rolling.

  4. Vengeance Road & Retribution Rail by Erin Bowman

When I borrowed this book, I was skeptical because it sets in a very old western setting and I don't know if I will like it. Oh boy, I was so wrong! This book is wonderfully portrayed to the readers that I was rooting for Kate to get her revenge. I love that the character isn't your typical YA and it questions your sense of justice. I need to read more books with this OLD western setting and guns and cowboys.

  5. The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon

This book has great reviews and I thought how great can this book be that people won't stop talking about? All I know about this book, before reading, was THERE ARE DRAGONS!!! As a crazily invested person in How To Train Your Dragon, I want to read a fantastic book that has dragons. I am glad to pick this book up. I love everything about this book - Plot, Literature, Characters, Setting. This book seems flawless to me which is why it makes to my unexpected good book because I thought flawless doesn't exist! The ending of this book was concluded well and I surely won't mind going back to the world again if Samantha wants to give us more. I am truly satisfied with the book that I will buy this book in time to come just to reread despite how thick the book is!

Now let's go to unexpectedly bad books.
Books that I mentioned are not that BAD but I just feel so cheated after reading it. You can skip this part or read and screw me over. LOL.

  1.  The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

Maybe because I got my hopes high up, I ended up disappointed? Kidding. I don't have high expectation when it comes to this book. I know that I will either love or dislike this book due to the sensitive issue being discussed. The conclusion is- I dislike this book. Till this day, I cannot understand why Starr Carter treated her boyfriend, Chris, in a certain way. Does she has to say out that Chris is WHITE? I was deeply uncomfortable when she reacted and say that out loud to someone who treasures and cherishes her. I wish Angie doesn't keep mentioning WHITE WHITE WHITE. I was like OK. So where's the plot? Or am I reading about colours now?
Majority love this book but I'm not being part of it. I really want to love this book but I just can't. I would be a POSER if I said I love this book. HAHA.

  2. King Of Scars by Leigh Bardugo

Oh well oh well. I guess I really don't care much about the Grishaverse. I just want another heist, badass, minority representation and misfits gang. HAHA. This book isn't that horrible but I was badly affected by the unexpected feeling I have after reading it. It has fantastic quotes and writing but I couldn't invest myself with whatever is going on. Am I going to read the 2nd book? It will be pending status till I have nothing else to read.

  3. Young Elites By Marie Lu

THIS book needs to be burn!!! I am so shaken by how such a book can exist? It's so horrible that it made into my worst books of all time. I kept reading thinking something grand will happen but I was so turned off by what was going on. I rolled my eyes when Adeline keeps saying how beautiful and good looking the males around her were. LOL. Girl, I get it. They are nice to look at... I have no conclusion what this book is about because I read it but nothing stays on my mind other than when will I finish this book?

  4. Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng

This is one of the books I really want to love but I unexpectedly dislike. I detest the characters in this book. I can't empathise and it makes me feel like I was a jerk for not feeling what I was supposed to be feeling. Screw it, I really don't like this book at all. I thought I will be questioning and thinking a lot about life from this book but the only thing I questioned was 'Is that it?'

  5. Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson

This is an example of a mystery book that doesn't live up to expectation. I love mystery but I don't care much about what's going on with this. So where was I supposed to feel spooked, goosebump, surprised? I am not reading the second book even with that cliffhanger okay?

I just finished 'Secret Love', korean drama.
It's so good. I love Ji Sung and Hwang Eum Jung so much!
I hope Hwang Eum Jung will play another similar character as Yoo Jung.
When she cries, I just end up crying as well!!! :(
